  • 'PK' becomes Bollywood's biggest success

Comedy drama "PK" is now the highest grossing Bollywood film ever, breaking records not just in India but abroad as well.

With A-list movie star Aamir Khan in the leading role as an extraterrestrial attempting to integrate into Indian society, "PK" has accumulated $65.2m of Indian box office returns since its December 19 release.

The title has also taken $9.15m to date in North America, making it the biggest Bollywood movie there too, while Australian totals stand at $1.9m so far.

One major milestone remains for "PK," which has overtaken Khan's 2013 blockbuster "Dhoom 3" in almost every other regard: the earlier hit's total worldwide tally is set at $89m, with "PK" not far behind on $86.2m.

But the picture has not been without controversy, its setup allowing director Rajkumar Hirani and co-writer Abhijat Joshi to question some of India's established social mores, according to Deadline.

Aamir Khan achieved international recognition for his role as lead actor and producer of 2002 Academy Award foreign language nominee "Lagaan," and is well known for his parts in "3 Idiots," "Rang De Basanti" and "Ghajini" in addition to "Dhoom 3" and "PK," while Hirani has received numerous accolades for national and global hits "3 Idiots" and the first two "Munna Bhai" comedies.

  • ‘Iron Man 4’ Major Casting News: Find Out Who Could Be Replacing Robert Downey Jr. In His Superhero Role -- Report

Marvel Studios is yet to officially announce "Iron Man 4." However, rumours and speculations about the movie are already running rampant. According to a latest report, the fourth instalment of the "Iron Man" may see a major casting switch. The buzz is a 13-year-old actor might replace Robert Downey Jr. in his titular superhero role for the movie expected to be released after "Avengers Infinity War Part 2."

Citing the report published on Bam Smack Pow, Movie Pilot is reporting that the "Jurassic World" actor TY Simpkins will replace Robert Downey Jr. in "Iron Man 4." He is the actor who played the role of Harley Keener in "Iron Man 3." The website speculates that maybe Tony [Stark] "will hand off the identity to him" or "maybe Marvel will just cast Simpkins as a younger Tony [Stark]."

"Iron Man 4" casting rumours have been making the rounds for quite some time. However, in the absence of official comments by the associated persons and studio, the reports remain unconfirmed. Thus it is advised to consider it a mere rumour. But if the rumours stand true, TY Simpkins will be 18 by the time he replaces 50-something Robert Downey Jr.

For those unfamiliar, TY Simpkins is not really a fresh face. The actor has already appeared in some big films besides "Iron Man 3." Some of the young actor's notable works include "Pride and Glory," Revolutionary Road" and "Insidious" and "Insidious: Chapter 2." It must be noted that TY Simpkins' work in "Iron Man 3" earned him a nomination for Best Performance by Young Actor at the prestigious Saturn Awards.

As for Robert Downey Jr., the rumours about his replacement in the fourth instalment of the franchise, started to surface in the year 2014. The actor's original contract with Marvel Studio ended with "Iron Man 3." Later, however, it was renewed for two more movies "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War." Meanwhile, the rumour claims that "Iron Man 4" will hit the theatres in 2019 and see the beginning of Marvel's Phase Four. But it remains to be seen if Robert Downey Jr. will reprise the role of Iron Man or will be replaced by a younger actor. What do you think?

  • N.Korea comedy (The Interview) becomes Sony all-time online hit

Los Angeles (AFP) - Controversial North Korea satire "The Interview" has made over $31 million on the Internet and other small-screen formats, Sony's best-grossing online film ever, the studio said Tuesday.

Including box office takings the movie has made some $36 million, approaching its reported $44 million budget, according to the Hollywood studio.

"The Interview," which triggered a hacking attack on Sony Pictures blamed by US authorities on Pyongyang, has been rented or bought online and through cable, satellite, and telecom providers more than 4.3 million times, it said.

That makes it the studio's number one online film of all time, it said, announcing updated figures from December 24 through to January 4.

The figures do not include earnings from some 580 theaters which have screened the movie. Box office takings there total some $5 million so far, a Sony Pictures statement said.

Sony Pictures initially resisted demands by hackers that it cancel the film's planned December 25 release date. But it gave in the week before Christmas, before changing its mind again and releasing it from December 24.

Online the movie is available via Google Play; YouTube Movies; Microsoft's Xbox Video; iTunes; VUDU, Walmart's digital VOD service; PlayStation Network; Amazon Instant Video; and through a dedicated website.

The film, which tells the story of a fictitious CIA plot to assassinate North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, is also available with leading US cable, satellite, and telecom providers' video-on-demand (VOD) services.
